Born in Greenwood, he was the son of the late Ernest and Mary Etta Sprouse Vaughn. He was retired from the United States Navy after 26 years of service to our country, having attained the rank of Sr. Chief Petty Officer. Afterwards, he worked for 18 years at Piedmont Technical College as Director of Human Resources. Mr. Vaughn was a member of Greenwood First Baptist Church, and attended Ware Shoals United Methodist Church.
He is survived by two sons: Emory Allan Vaughn Jr. and wife Samantha of Waterloo, and Bryan Vaughn and wife Suzanne of Chappells; and one daughter, Melanie Moorer and husband Randy of Aiken; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Services will be private. The family is at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 408 West Alexander Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29646.
