Melba Davis

Ware Shoals – Melba Thompson Davis, 93, widow of Allen William Davis, died Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at NHC Greenwood.

 

 

Born in Tarpon Springs FL, she was a daughter of the late Phillip Lloyd and Ida Mae Smith Thompson. She was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School class and the Senior Citizens Joy Club. She was retired from Parke-Davis.

Surviving are: two sons, Joe Allen Davis (Joyce) of Honea Path and Billy Davis (Sherry) of McCormick, a daughter, Becky Davis Hodges (Keith) of Hodges, a sister, Margaret Cox of Apopka FL, five grandchildren, Missy Sims, Jon and Jason Davis, Greg and Bucky Seigler, and eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She was predeceased by a brother, Kit Thompson.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Hans Wunch officiating. Burial will follow in Oakbrook Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Jason Davis, Jon Davis, Greg Seigler, Bucky Seigler, Jimmy Davis, Ramon Rollins and Kenny Fleming.

The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Thursday at the church prior to the service.
