Charles Ray Payton

Belton – Charles Ray Payton, 63, of 325 Maxcy Drive, widower of the late Judy Lane Smith Payton, died Saturday, October 12, 2013 at his home.

Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Joel and Selma Hughes Payton. He was of the Baptist faith, and worked as a truck driver, retired from Cooper Sand and Gravel. He was a loving and caring father.

Surviving are three daughters: Darlene Stack and Martha Beddingfield of Belton, and Amanda Autry and husband Shane of Williamston; one brother: Bobby Joe Payton of Belton; three sisters: Betty Sue Timms of Anderson, Joann McAlister and Teresa Duvall of Belton; and four grandchildren: Kyle Lowe, Tyler Beddingfield, Kayla Beddingfield, and Mickey Samples.

He was preceded in death by a son: Steven Ray Payton.

Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Carol Plemmons officiating. Burial will follow at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family is at the home of a daughter, Darlene Stack, 215 Maxcy Drive, and will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Monday at Pruitt Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Rd, Anderson, SC.
