Born in Laurens County, he was a son of the late Floyd Conwell Godfrey and Aura Walker Godfrey. He was a member of Union “Old Quaker” Baptist Church and was retired from Trinity Plastics in Remington, VA. He was a native of Ekom Beach and graduate of Paris High School of Greenville and former resident of Alexandria and Culpeper VA.

Surviving are his wife of the home, two daughters; Janice Y. Godfrey of Laurens Co. and companion Donald W. Pelasara and Pamela J. Brown of Harpers Ferry, West VA., two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, sisters; Mrs. Raye Caldwell of Greenwood, Mrs. Mildred Pressley, wife of the late Warren Pressley of Hickory Tavern, Brother-in-law, Joseph Coker of Greenwood, sister-in-law, Doris Jean Godfrey of Simpsonville and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, James W. Godfrey and Dr. Haskell C. Godfrey and four sisters, Oleta Gambrell and husband James, Ruby Lyon and husband Thomas and Mrs. Mary Paige and husband Horace and Mrs. Runette Coker.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday at Parker-White Funeral Home, Ware Shoals. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Tuesday at Union “Old Quaker” Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Garrison officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
