Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late James Frank and Mattie Emma Gambrell Young. She was a member of Donalds Baptist Church and had worked at Riegel Textile Co. and Chiquola Mfg. Co.

Surviving are five sons,  Charlie, Ralph, and Edward Vermillion all of Donalds,  Dwight Vermillion and wife Betty of Donalds, and Brian Vermillion and wife Crystal of Honea Path, a brother George Young of Honea Path, two sisters, Helen McGill and Sara Alewine both of Iva, twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 3 P.M. Wednesday at Due West Baptist Church Cemtery with Rev. Andrew Overby officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 P.M.
