Eleanor McNinch

Honea Path – Eleanor Harriet Allison McNinch, 92, widow of Dwight O’Dell McNinch, of 14 Washington Circle, died peacefully at her home Tuesday, April 16, 2013.

 

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late David Theodore and Lois Monroe Allison. She was a member of Honea Path First Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School Teacher and Missions Director. She was a graduate of Honea Path High School and Winthrop University. She worked at Fort Jackson after WWII. She was a volunteer and Master Tutor with The Literacy Association of Anderson County, and a volunteer for the Prison Ministry at Leath Correctional Institute. She was a wife and a homemaker.

Mrs. McNinch lived her life in service to others – as a wife, mother, grandmother, teacher and friend. Her love for others was a reflection of her deep faith and the very real presence of Jesus in her life - the perfect picture of unselfish devotion.

Surviving are: a son, James (Jim) Dwight McNinch and wife Chris of Columbia. a daughter, Mary Ann Bishop and husband David of Pawley’s Island, a brother, Jack Allison of Honea Path, four grandchildren, Leah and Dwight McNinch, Wesley Bishop and wife Alicia, and Elizabeth Ledford and husband Chance, and one great-granddaughter, Lily Bishop, and “Our Angels”, Lelia Cunningham, Frances Clinkscales and Andrea Dodson.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Don and David Allison, and a sister, Isabelle Banister.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2013 at Honea Path First Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Moody officiating. Burial will follow in Garden of Memories.

Pallbearers will be Dwight McNinch, Wesley Bishop, Grady Kay, Pete Cooley, Terry Cooley, Garnett Hall and Ellis Lark.

The family is at the home, and will receive friends Friday 12:30 – 2 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
