Born in Saluda, SC, she was the daughter of the late Joseph L. and Sara Elizabeth Ransom Edwards of Saluda. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Honea Path until declining health prevented her attendance. She taught Sunday School for many years, was active in the Women’s Missionary Union where she served as Baptist Women’s President for several years, and she was WMU Circle leader for many years. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for 20 years. She was a graduate of Lander College and taught school for 30 years, mostly in Honea Path. She was a very devoted, godly, loving, and kind woman to her family. She was a Proverbs 31 wife and mother.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and Dan Toole of Seneca and Linda and Ron Wiles of Powdersville; grandchildren, Lauren Toole Casey and husband Eddie of Greenwood, Collin Wiles and wife Crystal of Powdersville, Allison Wiles of Mauldin, and great-granddaughter Isabella Casey. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Maples, Exalted Health and Rehab, and Cottingham Hospice House for the care given to her while she was a resident at each facility.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Saturday, March 9th at Pruitt Funeral Home in Honea Path. Graveside Services will follow the visitation at the Garden of Memories Cemetery with Pastor Mike Moody officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering or the Building Fund at First Baptist Church, 100 South Main Street, Honea Path, SC 29654, or Connie Maxwell Children’s Home, PO Box 1178, Greenwood, SC 29648, or a charity of one’s choice.
