Born in Laurens County, she was a daughter of the late James Franklin and Hallie Elizabeth Culbertson Mitchell. She was a lifelong member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church where she was also a member of the WMU and the Bible Book-Naomi Sunday School class. She was retired from Tavern Sportswear as a seamstress.

Surviving are a daughter, Vivian Creswell and husband, Marty of Bradley, a sister, Weldon Jordan of Pelzer, a grandchild, Dixie Rae Nicastro and husband Michael of the home, and many other loving family members.

Funeral services will be held 11AM Friday, January, 18, 2013, at Poplar Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Bruce Ostrom officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
