Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Horace and Pearl Rice Reed. He was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church and was retired from Greenwood Mills. He was Past Master and member for 50 years of the Brewington Lodge #183 A.F.M.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years of the home, a daughter, Sheila Reid Coker and husband Tony of Hodges, two brothers, Wayne “Buzzy” Reid of Waterloo and Mike Reid of Columbus, Ohio, three grandchildren, Eli and Jana Reid of Hodges and Trent Coker and wife Meghan of Clinton, and a great-grandson, James Reid of Hodges. He was pre-deceased by a son, james Michael Reid and a sister, Alma Hysell.

Graveside services with Masonic Rites will be held at 11 A.M. Monday at Oakbrook Memorial Park with Rev. Bryon Wood officiating.
