Born in Laurens County, he was a son of the late Dolphus and Maude Hughes Sumeral. He was of the Baptist faith and a US Army veteran. He had a lifelong career in sales.

Surviving are his former wife and caregiver, Nancy Sumeral of the home, one son, Jason Sumeral and wife Crystal of Belton, one daughter, Charla Webb and husband Andy of Belton, three sisters, Mary Clem, Martha Williams, and Becky Sloan, all of Laurens, seven grandchildren, Jeremy and Janna Sumeral, Justin and Magan Sumeral, and Dylan, Devin and Drew Webb.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Stacy Elaine Sumeral, two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held 12 noon on Saturday September 29, 2012 at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robby Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Garden of Memories in Laurens.
