Mr. John Dee Cook, 88, of Dunn died Sunday morning at E. Carlton Powell Hospice Center in Lillington, NC. He was born in Ware Shoals, SC on October 28, 1923 to the late Seth B. and Mamie M. Cook. He was preceded in death by his wife Laura Kathleen Cook.
John served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He worked for Riegel Textiles as a Loom Fixer for over forty years before retiring. He was a past member of the VFW in Ware Shoals and Dunn.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Greenwood Memorial Gardens in Greenwood, SC by Rev. Tom Wagoner.
He is survived by a son, Rodger Cook and wife Lynn of Belton, SC, a daughter, Lynn Wells and husband Doug of Dunn, three sisters, Ola Ouzts, Barbara Marsh, Blanche Jones all of Ware Shoals, SC, three grandchildren, Joy Lewis and husband Ronald, Alan Cook and wife Joanne, Justin Wells and wife Jana, six great grandchildren, Ali Lewis, Olivia Cook, Madelynn Cook, Mary Kathleen Wells, Aselin Wells, and Daphne Wells.
The family will receive friends following the graveside service. Arrangements are by Skinner & Smith Funeral Home of Dunn, NC.
