Born in Anderson, he was a son of Charlie Compton and the late Carolyn Blackwell Grien. He was a member of the Honea Path Pentecostal Holiness Church where he was active in the choir, the FIM, and a van driver. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Surviving are his wife of the home, his father, Charlie Compton and step-mother, Freddie Compton of Greenville, a son, Brandon Compton of Destin, FL., a daughter Brandie Compton of the home, a brother Aaron Compton and wife Beverly of Anderson, two sisters, Dee Beebe and husband Randy of Anderson and Lynn Dehaven and husband Buddy of Starr, a brother-in-law, Phillip McGaha and wife Jennifer of Honea Path, and a sister-in-law, Leeann Brock and husband Brian of Honea Path, and mother-in-law, Nellie Sue McGaha of Honea Path. He was predeceased by his father-in-law, Malcolm “Cooter Bill” McGaha.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Monday at the Honea Path Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Ted Coody officiating.
