Born in Sayre, Pa. he was a son of the late Ralph and Evelyn Purdy Tyler. He attended Holiday Church in Ware Shoals and was a retired salesman.

Surviving are two sons, Clinton Tyler and Jeffrey Tyler both of Pennsylvania, two daughters, Robin Emmerich of Springville, Pa, two daughters Robin Emmerich of Pennsylvaina, and Janelle Tyler of Florida, two brothers, Richard Tyler of North Carolina, and Charlie Tyler of Pennsylvania, a sister, Nancy Crisman of Pennsylvania, and four adopted daughters, Carol Johnson, Tammy Weathers, Bridget Wood, and Robin May.
