Ruby DeVore Vermillion
Donalds – Ruby Lee DeVore Vermillion, 99, widow of William Harold “Bill” Vermillion, formerly of Highway 178, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at the Presbyterian Home in Clinton.
Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late David Franklin and Pearl Vashti Drake DeVore. She was a retired bookkeeper for Dr. R. S. Clarke, and was a member of Greenville Presbyterian Church where she taught the Men’s Sunday School Class, before retiring. She was a Sunday School Teacher for 65 years.
Surviving are a daughter, Nancy Marie Gary and husband Albert of Augusta, Ga., two grandchildren, Natalie Desso and husband Casey of Irmo and Bert Gary and wife Lauren of Summerville, and four great-grandchildren, Anne Myers Gary, Kamp Gary, Emily Desso, and Forester Desso. She was pre-deceased by 5 brothers, Gene, John Newton, Lyman, Ernest, and Julian DeVore.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Friday at Greenville Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jonathan Bowling officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 10 A.M. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday at Pruitt Funeral Home.
