Born in the Keowee Community of Abbeville County, he was the son of the late Gary and Blanche Bagwell Cooper. He was a member of the Honea Path Pentecostal Church where he was a deacon for over 25 years and a Sunday school teacher for many years. He attended Crossroads Fellowship Church. Bill retired as Manager of Mount Vernon’s Plastics Department. He served during the Korean War with the U.S. Army as a Corporal with Company E, 2nd BN, 22nd Infantry Regiment, and 4th Infantry Division. He was a cattleman, raised birds, goats, and other animals as a hobby.
Surviving are his wife, Norma McKinney, of Westchester, OH; two sons, Billy Cooper and wife Carmen of Broadway, NC and Rev. Paul Cooper and wife Delia of Ware Shoals; and a daughter, Connie Finley and husband David of Piedmont; one sister, Jean Davis of Donalds; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife of 48 years Catherine Bradshaw Cooper.
Funeral Services will be held at 3PM Sunday, March 25, 2012 at Crossroads Fellowship Church with Rev. Paul Cooper and Rev. Hayes Riddle officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 2PM. Burial to follow in the Garden of Memories.
