Born in Donalds, he was a son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Carrie Walker Higdon. He was a member of Donalds Baptist Church and was retired from Honea Path Shirtmakers.
Surviving are a son, Phil Higdon of Hodges, a daughter, Sherry Martines and husband Jimmy of Hodges, a brother Robert “Bobby” Higdon of Donalds, a sister Lucille Philllips of Iva, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by three sisters, Evelyn Scott, Cleo Scott, and Shirley Scott.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Tuesday at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dan Green officiating. Burial will follow in Donalds Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 P.M. Tuesday at Pruitt Funeral Home prior to the service.
