Born in Honea Path, he was a son of the late Raymond Lamar and Cora Long Mattison. He was a member of Chiquola Baptist Church where he had been active as a deacon, trustee, and choir member. He was retired from AT&T and was a member of the Pioneers. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, World War II having served in the South Pacific.
Surviving are his wife of the home, and a son, Dr. Eddy Mattison and wife Donna of Fountain Inn. He was pre-deceased by a sister, Emma Lee Simpson.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Tuesday at Chiquola Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Powell and Dr. Jerry White officiating. Burial will follow in M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 Tuesday at Chiquola Baptist Church prior to the service. The family is at the home.
