Born in Honea Path, he was a son of the late Jasper and Nettie Bonner Johnson. He was a member of Mt. Bethel Baptist Church. He formerly attended and served as Deacon at Broadmouth Baptist Church and attended Chiquola Baptist Church. He was a former member of the Honea Path Rescue Squad, was retired from Haynesworth Plant of Anderson, and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force Reserve.

Surviving are his wife of the home, a son, Walter “Chop” Johnson and wife LaDonna of Honea Path, a daughter, Debbie Jones and husband Jerry of Belton, a sister, Stella Thompson of Honea Path, four grandchildren, Bonnie Lindley, Missie Epps, Brandon Johnson, and Ana Johnson, and five great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by a brother, Walter L. “Train” Johnson and a sister, Nettie “Cookie” Babb.

Funeral services will be held at 4 PM Tuesday at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Ron Culbertson, Rev. Chris Guire, and Rev. Rickey Rice officiating. Burial will follow in Eastview Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 PM Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home. The family is at the home. Memorials may be made to Mt.
