Elmer Hodges

Ware Shoals – Elmer William Hodges, 83, devoted brother, uncle, friend, and neighbor, died December 21 2011, at his home following health problems.


 

He was born April 24, 1928 in the town of Greenwood, SC, to the late William Earl Hodges and Myrtle Lee Carter Hodges. He spent his entire life in Ware Shoals, SC except for his time in the Army.

His life was characterized by his love of the outdoors and to make sure that those he cared about were provided for. He also held many offices in the Princeton Lodge # 129 A.F.W., serving as President in 2004.

Elmer is survived by one brother, Jody Carlton Hodges of Hodges, SC. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Olivia Herring Parks of Jackson, Mississippi, Claude Earl and Elissa Ashley of Greenville, SC, Jones and Sherry Herring of Columbia, SC, John and Bonnie Buffington of Ware Shoals, SC, Gene and Debbie Hodges of Rock Hill, SC, Bill Hodges of Hodges, SC, Annette and John Morrah of West Union, SC and his long time special friend Mary Ann Strickland.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother James Eugene Hodges, sisters, Grace Hodges Herring and Ruby Hodges Ashley.

Graveside services will be 2 o’clock Friday, December 23, 2011 at Greenwood Memorial Gardens with Rev. Carol Peppers-Wray officiating.

The family is at the home. Visitation will be held from 6 o’clock to 8 o’clock on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Parker-White Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.ParkerWhitePruitt.com
