Ware Shoals – Harold B.”Red” O’Dell, Sr. 97, widower of Robena Johnson O’Dell, of 13994 Indian Mound Rd., died Friday, November 25, 2011 at Morningside Assisted Living Center.
Born in Laurens County, he was a son of the late Joseph Benjamin and Annie Sue Martin O’Dell. He was a member of Mt. Gallagher Baptist Church and Brewerton Lodge #183 A.F.M. He was formerly employed by Greenwood Telephone Company and retired from Greenwood Motor Lines.
Surviving are two sons, Mike O’Dell and wife Linda of Orangeburg, Harold O’Dell, Jr. and wife Debbie of Greenwood; four grandchildren, Roxanne Warfle and husband Charlie of Sumter, Michelle O’Dell of Orangeburg, Todd O’Dell and wife Melissa of Batesburg, Chad O’Dell and wife Misty of Greenwood; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son Walter Martin “Marty” O’Dell.
Funeral services will be held at 2PM Monday November 28, 2011 at Mt. Gallagher Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Marcus Bishop officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1PM. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Todd O’Dell, Chad O’Dell, Chase O’Dell, Lewis O’Dell, Billy O’Dell, and Ray Thompson.
The family is at the home of a son, Harold O’Dell, Jr. 327 Green Oak Rd., Greenwood and will receive friends Sunday 3-5PM at Parker-White Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to the Mt. Gallagher Baptist Church Family Life Center Fund, 11828 Indian Mound Rd., Ware Shoals, SC 29692.
