Ware Shoals – Rita Annette Winecoff Jackson, 60, of 23 S.Greenwood Ave., died Tuesday, October 18 2011, at Morningside Assisted Living Home in Greenwood

She was a 1969 graduate of Ware Shoals High School and a 1972 graduate of Lander University. She faithfully served at Self Regional Healthcare for 26 years as a Registered Nurse. She was a member of the Ware Shoals First Presbyterian Church where she was an Elder and a former member of the session. She was a former member of the Board of Directors of the Ware Shoals Catfish Feastival, a member of the Ware Shoals School Alumni Association, a long time volunteer of the Greenwood Soup Kitchen Ministry, and a member of the Evening Shade Book Club of the Ware Shoals Community Library.

She is survived by her daughter, Janet Jackson Smothers (John), a granddaughter “the love of my life” Grace Anne Jackson, a close friend, George Rush, beloved cousins and a host of friends.

Memorial services will be held at Ware Shoals First Presbyterian Church on Sunday, Oct. 23, at 3 PM. Honorary escorts will be Michael Walker, Wally Ramar, Bennett Medlin, Gregg Harrell, Margaret Bagwell, Debbie Strawhorn Cottingim, Terri Golden Cheek, and Debbie Latham Bass, current and former members of the session of the Ware Shoals First Presbyterian Church, Officers of the Ware Shoals School District Alumni Association, The Catfish Feastival Board of Directors, and the Thursday volunteers of The Greenwood Soup Kitchen Ministry, Inc.

The family will receive friends and celebrate her life from 4-5 PM in the church fellowship hall.
