JB Brookie

Ware Shoals- JB Brookie, 95, husband of Frances Spearman Brookie of 16246 Hwy. 25 North died Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at Hospice of the Piedmont. Born in Pickens County, he was a son of the late John and Mary Jane Green Brucke.  Mr. Brookie was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church and was Past Master of Princeton Lodge No. 129 A.F.M.  He served in the US Army in France, Belgium and Germany during WWII.

Surviving in addition to his loving wife of sixty five years are three sons, Jim Brookie, (Karalee) Mauldin, Roger Brookie, Ware Shoals and Lt. Col John Christopher Brookie (Nikki),  S. Korea:  three daughters, Peggy Reynolds,  (Ken),Ware Shoals, Gail Keown, (Bill) ,Raleigh, NC. and Ann McElvain, (Mack),  Kerrville,Texas, two brothers, Alvin Brucke, High Point, NC , Mack Brucke, Conover, NC and eighteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. 

He was pre-deceased by brothers, Lloyd, Charlie, Harley, Henry, Glen Brucke and sisters, Blanche Moore and Julie Brucke.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 2 pm at Harmony United Methodist with Rev. Tina Thomas, Rev. Tom Cartledge and Rev. Byron Wood officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

The grandchildren will be honorary pallbearers.

The body will be placed in the church at 1 pm Saturday. The family is at the home and will receive friends Friday from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
