Born in Abbeville County, he was a son of the late Earnest M. and Annie Smith Ashley. He was a member of Austin Road Baptist Church where he formerly ran the sound system.  He loved music and playing guitar and was retired from Wells Aluminum.

Surviving in addition to his wife is one daughter, Bonnie Faye Souther, both of the home. He was predeceased by two brothers, Ray and Gary Ashley. 

Funeral Services will be held Thursday at 3PM at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Slatten, Rev. Joe Thomas and Chaplin James Rice officiating.  Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories.
