Wilbur Bennett

Honea Path – Wilbur Smith Bennett, 79, of 13 Griffin Farm Road, husband of Rachel Dowdy Bennett, died Sunday September 4, 2011 at Richard Campbell Veterans Nursing Home.

Born in Spartanburg County, he was a son of the late William and Nora Hutchins Bennett. He was of the Baptist faith and a U.S. Army veteran. He was retired from AT&T after 35 years of service, a member of the Telephone Pioneers and an avid fisherman, hunter and camper.

Surviving are his wife of the home, four daughters, Pricilla Sellers and husband Michael of Honea Path, Angela Davis and husband Jake of Anderson, Missy Dyar and husband David of Anderson, and Shanna Mauldin and companion Al Martin of Bluffton, three brothers, three sisters, nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Wednesday at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Troy Crain officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories.
