Born in Abbeville County he was a son of the late Milton and Maggie Hill Smith. He was a member and former Deacon of Due West Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, World War II. He was retired after over 40 years as a Contractor. He was also a lifelong farmer, and a member of the Abbeville County Cattleman’s Association.
Surviving are a son, Perry David Smith and wife Sandra of Donalds, a daughter, Jean Smith of Donalds, a sister, Martha Stone of Donalds, three grandchildren, Holly Miller, Luke Hancock and wife Heather, and Josh Smith, three great-grandchildren, Everette and Carson Miller and Kaytlin Smith, and several nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by a brother, Wilborn Smith, and three sisters, Florence, Ruby, and Margaret Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Wednesday at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel, Honea Path with Rev. Bob Philyaw and Rev. Billy Slatten officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
