Princeton – William Allen “Bill” Knight, 81, husband of Frances Henderson Knight, of 18329 Highway 76 West, died Tuesday June 21, 2011 at his home.
Born in Laurens County, he was a son of the late William C. and Allie Davis Knight. He was a member of Princeton Baptist Church. He led the Young At Heart along with his wife. He had served as a deacon, a member of the Building and Grounds Committee, the Cemetery Committee and a custodian of the church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. He was self employed farmer and he had previously worked in the construction business.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 61 years, are a son; Kenneth Neal Knight and wife Lisa of Princeton, one daughter; Vonna Knight of Princeton, three grandchildren; Dawn Chapman and husband, Kevin, Travis and Phillip Knight; three great-grandchildren; Neal, Tanner and Taylor Chapman, a sister; Lillian Tumblin of Ware Shoals, and his special canine friend, Princess.
He was predeceased by a baby boy and a brother; Capers Knight.
Funeral services will be Thursday June 23, 2011 at 3PM at Princeton Baptist Church with the Rev. Gregg Loner and Rev. Bobby Lindsey officiating. Burial will follow in the cemetery. The family will receive friends at Princeton Baptist Church Wednesday from 6-8 PM. The family is at the home. Parker-White Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
