James Melvin Timms, 76, of 1724 Nation Road, husband of Maureen Bagwell Timms died Thursday, July 15,at Hospice Care of the Piedmont in Greenwood He was born in Greenwood County, a son of the late Jessie Paul and Martha Hodges Timms. He was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church and was retired from Monsanto. Mr. Timms was a veteran of the US Army.
Surviving besides his wife of the home are two sons: Jimmy Timms, Greenwood and Kenneth Timms, Pelzer; four sisters, Elizabeth Cooper, Greenwood, Martha Ezell, Hodges, Mildred McAllister, Greenwood, Frances Bell, Shoals Junction and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, 3:30 pm at Walnut Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Warren officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
The body will be placed in the church at 2:30 pm Sunday.
Active pallbearers will be Edgie Walden, Robbie Taylor, James Timms, Jordan Timms, Richard Wood and Walt Pruitt.
Honorary escort will be the Original 30 Chemstrand Mechanical Maintenance Employees and members of the Men’s Sunday School Class of Walnut Grove Baptist Church.
