LEON MARTIN


Lonnie Leon Martin, 77, husband of Marian Edwards Martin died Monday at his home. He was born in Spartanburg County, a son of the late W.S. Martin and Vinnie Hammett Martin. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and retired after twenty seven years in the National Guard. He was a graduate of Ware Shoals High School and was a member of Ware Shoals First Baptist Church.

Surviving are: one son, Larry Martin and wife Robbie, Ware Shoals, three daughters, Carol McCurry and husband, Barry, Greenwood, Beverly Pilgrim and husband, Mike, Ware Shoals, and Terry Wells and husband, Jackie, Ninety Six and a step-son, Tommy Golden, one brother, Lamar (Aric) Martin, Orangeburg ,seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

He was pre-deceased by a sister, Inez Martin, two brothers, George and Albert Martin and a granddaughter.

The family is at the home, 27 S. Greenwood Ave. and will receive friends at Parker-White Funeral Home Thursday, 6-8 pm.
