Richard “Dick” Goldsmith
Honea Path – Richard Samuel Goldsmith, 87, husband of Vivian Joyce Davis Goldsmith, of 200 Wildwood Drive, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Rainey Hospice House of Anderson.
Born in Scotts, Mich., he was a son of the late Carlton and Norma Harrison Goldsmith. He was a member of Berachah Church of Houston, Texas. He retired from Clark Equipment Co. of Battle Creek, Mich., and later sold real estate in the Easley and Greenville areas.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, World War II, where he proudly served in the European Theater with the South Carolina 30th National Guard Division. He received a Purple Heart.
Surviving besides his wife of 66 years, of the home, are two sons, Dr. Aaron Goldsmith (Wilma) of Greenville and Gerald Goldsmith (Kathy) of Abbeville and two daughters, Rita Davis (Dale) of Climax, Mich.; and Lois Jeffreys (Jimmy) of Niceville, Fla., a brother, Lynn Goldsmith of Scotts, Mich.; a sister, Joyce Baily of Fulton, Mich.; nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Betty Romig.
Funeral services with military honors will be held at 2PM on Monday at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. William N. Harper officiating. A private interment will be held at a later date.
The family will receive friends from 6-8PM Sunday at Pruitt Funeral Home. The family will be at the home.
