Jack Allison

Honea Path – John (Jack) Jackson Allison, 94, formerly of Honea Path, died Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home.

 

Born in Honea Path, he was a son of the late Dr. David Theodore and Lois Monroe Allison. He was a lifelong member of Honea Path First Baptist Church. He worked as a dental technician in Greenwood for 28 years, and then retired from Torrington after 15 years. He was also a veteran of the US Army, and was stationed in Germany as part of the occupation force during the Korean War. Mr. Allison was very supportive of BHP High school athletics, and he researched and painted coats of arms for many local families over the years. He also gave the town of Honea Path its slogan: “A little town with a big heart” as the winner of a fourth-grade contest.

Mr. Allison is survived by three nephews: James McNinch, David Allison and Ward Allison; and three Nieces: Mary Ann Bishop, Lynna Beeks and Robin Muse.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: David M. Allison and Don Allison; two sisters: Isabelle Banister and Eleanor (Boo) McNinch; his nephew David Banister and his niece Joanne Anderson.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 27 at Eastview Cemetery with Rev. Mike Moody officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the graveside.
