Born in Greenwood he was a son of the late Walter L. and Laura Morrison O’Dell. He was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church and was retired from Inman Mills of Enoree.

Surviving are his daughter, Rene O. Bouknight of Ware Shoals, three grandsons, Steven Bouknight (Melissa), Danny Spence (Monica), and Ryan Spence, and eight great-grandchildren, Aden, Carson, Brody, Harrison, Hanna, Lee, Noah, and Landon.

He was predeceased by his wife, Elaine, his parents, a daughter, Debbie O. Hurt, five brothers, Jackson C. O’Dell, Newton W. O’Dell, Walter M. O’Dell, Louis R. O’Dell, and Thomas A. O’Dell, and two sisters Sarah L. Donalson and Eva Ruth Breitenbach.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at Walnut Grove Baptist Church, 230 Morgan Road, Hodges, SC 29653 with Rev. Wayne Wicker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends from 1 – 2 PM Tuesday at Walnut Grove Baptist Church prior to the service..
