Don Watson

Ware Shoals – Donald Craig Watson, 89, of Cactus Drive, husband of Frankie Gibert Watson, died Wednesday, January 14th, 2026 at Self Regional Healthcare in Greenwood.

Born in Fountain Inn, he was a son of the late Charlie Brunson and Pearl Bridges Watson. He was a member, deacon, and financial secretary of Poplar Springs Baptist Church and a veteran of the US Air Force. He was a graduate of Ware Shoals High School, class of 1953 and the University of South Carolina, class of 1962 and retired from Crompton and Knowles of Simpsonville.

Surviving are his wife, Frankie, of the home, a son Matthew Watson (Maureen) of Greenwood, and a daughter Michelle Posey (Mike) of Ware Shoals, a brother, Jerry Watson (Sharon) of Columbia, a sister, Joyce Morgan (Don) of Boiling Springs, a granddaughter, Sydney Posey Grime (Jeremy) of Ware Shoals, and twin great-granddaughters, Isadora and Esmeralda.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a son, Marcus Watson and a daughter, Melissa Watson, three brothers, Marvin Watson, J.B. “Buck” Watson, and Fred Watson, and two sisters, Joan Watson and Aluwee Fowler.

Graveside services will be held Friday, January 16th at 1PM at Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Steve Magaha officiating.

The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends after the service in Poplar Springs Baptist Church Social Hall. The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorials made to Poplar Springs Baptist Church, 6000 Poplar Springs Road, Ware Shoals, SC 29692.
