Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Oscar and Odie Mae Garrett King. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church and retired from the Honea Path Shirt Plant. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are: three grandchildren, Abby (Jamie) Merritt, Hollie (John) Whitfield and Ashton Sea Ashley; three great-grandchildren, Bella Gilliam, Mason Merritt and Waylon Whitfield; and caregiver and long time family friend, Tonya Smith.

Ms. Ashley was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Dusty Ashley; her daughter, Tammy Riddle; a grandson, Dustin Ashley; a brother; and nine sisters.
