Born in Greenwood County, he was the son of the late Telford Boyce and Dorothy Ricks Crawford. He had formerly worked for the U.S. Department of Defense as a civilian contractor and was an auto mechanic. He loved his grandkids, dirt track racing and drag racing.

Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 42 years of the home are: three daughters, Sue Ellen (Jacob) Dodge of Boiling Springs, Christy (Rafe) Gambrell and Kelly Nichole Crawford, both of Ware Shoals; seven grandchildren, Aubrey Crawford, Johnathan Crawford, Alexis Bowie, Hanna Bowie, William Bowie, Natalie Gambrell, and Sophia Gambrell; and special family friends, Briana Fleming, Parieisha Seigler and Josh Cogdill.
