She was born October 14, 1941 at Mercy Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was a daughter of the late Major Alvin Cowan and is survived by her mother, Faye Hood Penland Cowan. Lynda and husband Jimmy Wayne were married for more than 63 years and were the proud parents of three lovely daughters, Deborah Floyd, husband "Rocky" of Anderson, Dana Torres husband Felix of Anderson, and Leigh McCurry, husband Tommy of Anderson both deceased. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed them very much. She had 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
She is survived by three younger sisters, Patsy Drake and husband Henry deceased of Simpsonville, Sue Coffin- husband Michael deceased of Anderson and Beth Aycock, husband Brian of Anderson.
She graduated from Erskine College with a BA Degree in business and was a realtor for many years before relocating with family to beautiful St. Thomas USVI for more than 15years. St. Thomas became home for this S.C family. St. Thomas was a wonderful experience however, returning home to the comforts and familiarity of friends and family was eagerly welcomed.
Graveside services will be held at 3 PM on Friday, May 16, 2025 at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, Belton, with Rev. Deon Louw officiating.
