Born in Min-Vody Russia, he was a son of Alexander and Vera Pontileeva Cherkasov. He was a veteran of the Russian Military and was employed by TTI of Anderson.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are: four sons, Sergey (LoraLee) Cherkasov, Daniel Cherkasov, and Dennis Cherkasov, all of Honea Path, and Alex (Monica) Cherkasov of North Carolina; his daughter, Katherine Cherkasov of Honea Path; one brother; eight sisters; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters.

Graveside services will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, April 25, 2025 at Eastview Cemetery with Rev. Billy Slatten officiating.
