Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late James Harding and Simmie Louisa Harris Miller. He was a member and deacon of Westside Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a member and Past Master of the Jappa Lodge # 387 A.F.M. He was retired from Monsanto and was a charter member of the Neighbors Credit Union. An avid golfer, he loved Star Fort and traveling to other golf courses.

Surviving are a son, Derrick Miller (Denise) of Greenwood, a daughter, Tammy Bell (Brad) of Abbeville, three sisters, Vickie Yates of Greenwood, Susan Gillian (Mike) of North Augusta, and Becky Morgan (Alan) of Greenwood, three grandchildren, Blake, Ethan, and Bryson, and two great-grandchildren, Colt and Kylie.
