Born in Anderson, he was a son of the late Willie Woodrow and Carrie Gunnells Motes. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church, and was retired from his work as a Sales Associate at Walmart.

Woody was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by his Sister-in-law Wanda Mattison Motes, four nephews: Jason, Russell, Kyle, and John Michael Motes; and two nieces: Jessica Horton and Brooke Motes.

He was preceded in death by his three brothers: William, Otis, and Jimmy Motes.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, June 20, 2024 at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. DeWayne Evans officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 2-3 PM prior to the service. Burial will follow at Eastview Cemetery.
