Born in Easley, SC, he was a son of the late Sarah Mae Fincannon McCall. He was of the Christian Faith and was employed by Southern Staircase of West Columbia. He was a graduate of Easley High School class of 1991. An artist who loved to draw, he also loved hunting, fishing, golf, and anything outdoors.

Surviving are a son, Austin Byrd of Liberty, a daughter, Taylor Byrd of Gray Court, a brother, Aaron Byrd (Tracy) of Easley, two nephews Daniel (Kaleigh) and Noah Byrd, both of Easley, and a great niece, Violet Byrd of Easley.
