Born in Charlotte, N.C. he was a son of the late Gerald Sullivan and Mabel Ogburn Wise. He formerly worked as a merchandiser at Bi-Lo of Honea Path.

Surviving are three sons, Danny Tallent (Kim) of Greenwood, Jason Wise (Elizabeth) of Greenwood, and Jon Wise (Christy) of Talking Rock, Ga., a sister, Jerri Lynn Jones of Farmington, N.M. and eight grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by a sister, Brenda Wise.
