Born in Laurens County, she was a daughter of the late Luther Broadus and Sallie Mae Ridgeway Mitchell. She was a member at Providence Baptist Church and was retired from Riegel Textiles.
Surviving are: two sons, Jerry Lamar Kirkland (Rebecca) of Gray Court, Charles Wayne Kirkland of Greenwood, two daughters, Kathy Pate (David) of Wilmington, NC, Myra Gail Brown (Jerry) of Sandy Run, a sister Bobby Jean Quidley of Cowpens, son-in-law, Tommy Gambrell of Hodges, nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two daughters, Janet Kirkland and Judy Gambrell, a daughter-in-law, Linda Kirkland, two brothers, Luther and Jim Mitchell, seven sisters, Mary Blackwell, Jeanette Strawhorn, Karen Gambrell, Dora Marler, Nell Smith, Mildred Adams and Eva Lindley.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 20, 2016 at Parker-White Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ryan Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
The family is at the home and will receive friends from 10 -11 a.m. prior to the service at Parker-White Funeral Home.
