Born in Iva, he was a of son of the late J.L. and Drucie Doyle Smith. He was a member of the Honea Path Church of God and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was retired from Richard Campbell Veterans Nursing Home.
Surviving are a step-son, Roy Hopkins of Anderson, two step-daughters, Audry H. Greenway and Geraldine Gambrell, both of Honea Path, a sister, Barbara Smith Davis and husband Gerald of Columbia, eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, ten great-great-grandchildren, two nieces, and two nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at the Honea Path Church of God with Rev. Charlie Driggers, Rev. Boyd King, and Rev. George Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in EastviewCemetery.
