Born in Otto, NC, he was a son of the late Arthur and Maybelle Rogers Patton. He was a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church of Mountville, and a veteran of the US Air Force. He was retired from Illinois Central Railroad.
Surviving are; one son, Philip Patton of San Diego CA, one daughter, Andra Knecht of Clarkesville, GA, a step-daughter, Kristina Fuller of Birmingham, AL, a brother, Courtney Patton of Liberty Center, OH, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Sheryl Sha’afi, two brothers, Robert and Frank Patton and two sisters, Bessie Davis and Pearl Stanfill.
