Shirley Hudson

Ware Shoals – Shirley Jean Russum Hudson, 67 of 14939 Indian Mound Road, widow of Walter Lee Hudson, died Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at Hospice of Laurens County.

 

Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late Leonard Russum and Lois Bradberry Russum. She was a member and former choir member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church and had attended Mt. Gallagher Baptist Church for a number of years. She was a retired scanning coordinator with Bi-Lo. She was a volunteer fireman and former President of the women’s auxiliary of the Western Laurens Fire Dept. and past member of the WMU of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. Mrs. Hudson enjoyed singing, playing piano, traveling and loved her family and friends.

Surviving are one daughter; Melisa “Lisa” Giles and husband Buddy of Abbeville, son; Chris Hudson and wife Tanya of Ware Shoals, 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, special close friend of the family; Audra Edge and special caregivers; Amy Gunter and Wanda Ficklin. She was predeceased by a son, Frank W. Norris. 

Funeral services will be 3 PM Friday at Mt. Gallagher Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Hudson, Rev. Lamar Babb, Rev. Dr. Marcus Bishop and Rev. Frank Northcutt officiating. Burial will follow in Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family is at the home of her son; Chris Hudson, 14899 Indian Mound Rd, and will receive friends from 1-3 PM Friday prior to the service at Mt. Gallagher. The family request that flowers be omitted and memorials made to Mt. Gallagher Baptist Church Family Life Center, 11570 Indian Mound Road, Ware Shoals, SC 29692.
