Erline Jameson

Augusta, Ga. - Gertrude Erline Hannah Jameson, born in Abbeville County, SC, October 10, 1917, died Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at Trinity Hospital in Augusta, Ga.

Erline was a graduate of Abbeville High School and Forrest Business College, Anderson, SC. She served as secretary of Boulevard Baptist Church in Anderson and as a managing partner of Electronics Supply Company in Anderson. Later moving to Charleston, SC, she was employed as a quantitative analyst at the Charleston Naval Supply Center and was twice honored as employee of the year. She retired in 1983 and enjoyed extensive travel. She was a faithful member of the James Island Baptist Church serving on many committees before moving to Augusta, Ga to be nearer to family. She enjoyed a lifelong hobby of quilting and especially loved quilting with her daughters. She was a charter member of the Island Quilters Guild of Charleston, SC.

She was predeceased by her parents, George Allen Hannah and Ella Mundy Hannah and her husband, William Robert Jameson, Sr., siblings Cynthia Ella Hannah, George Waymon Hannah, Lomax Mundy Hannah, Mary Inez Boiter, Juanita Hannah Kay, and Allen Guy Hannah.

She is survived by children Hannah Rebecca Jameson Tipper and husband Larry of Ladson, SC, Mary Ella Jameson Verdery and husband Ford of Augusta, GA, Catherine Amanda Jameson Puckette and husband Elliott of Charleston, SC, William Robert Jameson, Jr. and wife Anne of Saluda, NC, and Stephen Allen Jameson of Charleston, SC. She is also survived by grandchildren Rieves Ford Verdery, Jr and wife Robin Verdery of Seaford Delaware, Whitney Jameson Verdery Page and husband Edwin Magruder Page, III of Augusta, GA , Lawrence Edwin Tipper, III and wife Gayle Tipper of Wilmington, NC, Catherine Rebecca Tipper Nisoff and husband Chris Nisoff of Charleston, SC, Robert Brown Jameson and Jessica Hannah Jameson of Saluda, NC and great grandchildren Rieves Ford Verdery III of Preston, Maryland, Mary Elizabeth Page and Sarah Catherine Page of Augusta, GA and Joshua Jameson Nisoff of Charleston, SC. Erline was also loved by her step grandson, Thomas Joseph Porter, III of New York, New York.

Erline was known for her cheerful, friendly personality and as a devout Christian. She exhibited an inner strength which was a constant source of inspiration to her family and all who knew her.

Family will receive visitors from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church, Honea Path, SC on Friday, April 18, 2014. A service will follow visitation at 2:00 PM. The burial will be at Eastview Cemetery, Honea Path, SC following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory to James Island Baptist Church, 2023 Wappoo Drive, James Island, SC 29412.
